Little Silver Wiffle Ball Tournament Raises Money To Help Sick Parent

Father/Son/Daughter Wiffle Ball Tournament Attracts Big Crowd in Little Silver

The heavy rains may have cancelled some Saturday baseball games but that was not the case for the Little Silver 1st Annual Father/Son/Daughter Wiffle Ball Tournament held at Boro Field.

The sunny afternoon allowed fathers and their child to team up with their friends to form 4 person teams which competed in round robin rounds with winners advancing to playoff rounds. The turnout was fantastic with  an abundance of players. Four special wiffle ball fields were lined and temporary short outfield home run fences erected. Most players had never played in structured wiffle ball games but vowed to return next year after having so much fun.  Players were given T shirts and refreshments were served from the new concession stand.

The tournament was the idea of the rec baseball coordinator, Rick Brandt who was assisted by Dave Santos who has organized similar tournaments at CBA where he teaches and coaches.

All proceeds were donated to the “Hope For Kim Fund” to benefit Little Silver resident, Kim Cronin, who is seriously ill and disabled from years on being misdiagnosed with Lyme Disease. Now completely disabled with a progressive neurodegenerative condition and having exhausted both conventional and nonconventional treatments available in this country, Kim is now in India with her husband Pete and receiving cutting edge stem cell therapy not available in the United States. Several community based fundraising efforts have been organized to help defray the cost of medical bills and travel to India. Donations to support Kim can be made online at https://www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/kq02/hopeforkim.
