Shrewsbury Sailing & Yacht Club awards winners of the spring and Memorial Day regattas

The Shrewsbury Sailing & Yacht Club, located in Oceanport on the Shrewsbury River, held its annual Memorial Day regatta today (postponed from last week due to weather). Seven fleets were represented including Optimists, 420's, Lasers (full and radial rigs), Comets, Sanderlings, Woodpussys, and Flying Scots, and the sailors spanned almost 8 decades - from ages 9 to 72!

The regatta consisted of 3 races with the low point scoring system determining the winner of each fleet. Commodore Kelly Zweig and Race Chair Bob Slook handed out the trophies at the awards ceremony after the races.

SSYC's registration for junior and adult sailing lessons this summer is open to non-members. No experience or boat ownership is required. Visit www.ssyc.us for more information. The Independence Day Regatta, scheduled for Sunday, July 7, is also open to non-members.
