Know where your food comes from? Restaurants throughout New Jersey will make sure you do during the upcoming “Eat Drink Local Week”, when more than 60 restaurants throughout the state will offer special menus featuring the fresh and local ingredients grown by Garden State farmers.
From June 22 to 29, restaurants from every corner of the state will celebrate the bounty of New Jersey farmers and food purveyors with special prix-fixe and supplemental menus based on locally grown and produced ingredients. The event is presented by Edible Jersey, a James Beard award-winning magazine dedicated to promoting the local, seasonal foods of the Garden State. For more information go to www.ediblejersey.com
“We want to make consumers aware of the many establishments statewide who place a dedicated emphasis on working with local farmers and purveyors,” said Nancy Painter, publisher of Edible Jersey. “More and more chefs throughout the state make the extra effort to work with local farmers in securing seasonal and fresh ingredients, and the result is a distinctly Garden State dining experience.”

“Eat Drink Local Week” is co-sponsored by Fresh From Zone 7, a farm-fresh distribution service that connects local farmers and chefs by delivering high-quality ingredients from farms in New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania to restaurants and grocers. Painter said that “Eat Drink Local Week” will not only provide diners with a flavorful, fresh-from-the-field dishes, but a chance to support New Jersey farmers.
“It’s a win-win-win situation for farmers, restaurants and diners,” she said.
