Local Award winning author Audrey Vernick is scheduled to visit Wolf Hill School on Friday, March 30th. Her latest bookBrothers at Bat: The True Story of an Amazing All-Brother Baseball Team is about the Acerra brothers from Long Branch, New Jersey! The book is published by Clarion and has received starred reviews in Publishers Weekly, School Library Journal and Booklist. The book was recently endorsed by Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. as quoted below.
“I was lucky to play in the big leagues with my brother as a teammate and my dad as our manager. It was a very special time. The story of the Acerra brothers brought those memories back. It is a wonderful illustration of what a great game baseball is and how it brings families together on many different levels. BROTHERS AT BAT is a story any baseball fan will enjoy and one that we all should know." - Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr.
We are really thrilled that two of our students are directly related – their grandfather played on the team! So in addition to the author some family members are coming and bringing some memorabilia to share!
