Community Corner

Join us for Hands Across the Sand & Beach Yoga in Bradley Beach!

Superstorm Sandy devastated shore communities up and down our coast. It was the biggest natural disaster we ever experienced. Superstorm Sandy was a wakeup call that we need to do whatever we can to combat climate change. On Saturday May 18th at 12 PM we will be joining hands on 3rd Avenue Beach in Bradley Beach to say we have had enough – we need to start investing in clean energy and move away from fossil fuels because our future depends on it!

Just imagine if we had oil rigs off of our coast when Sandy hit. We would not only have had beaches and communities filled with debris, but potentially a coast slickened with oil. Offshore drilling in the Atlantic is a very big possibility with the potential for seismic testing for oil exploration to happen at any time. Seismic testing poses its own threats to marine mammals and if deposits are found could open up the Atlantic coast to offshore drilling. With all the disastrous accidents that have happened around the country with pipeline spills and explosions we should not be investing in dangerous fossil fuels, but in the clean energy technologies of the future!

Join the New Jersey Sierra Club, The Jersey Shore Chapter of The Surfrider Foundation, and people around the world on May 18th as we join hands to call for a clean energy future.  Embracing clean energy now is the path to a sustainable planet!
