The Community YMCA & Junior League of Monmouth County Partner for Healthy Kids Day®, April 27

The Community YMCA is partnering with the Junior League of Monmouth County, to celebrate Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 27 with a free community event for kids and families at the Junior League, 55 Center Street, Rumson NJ, 07760.  Healthy Kids Day is a kick-off to helping parents get a jump on creating a healthier summer, a time when kids are most prone to being sedentary.

Healthy Kids Day, a national initiative of the Y to improve the health and well-being of children, will include a host of physical and educational activities with the Junior League and other community partners to inspire kids and families to stay physically and intellectually active all summer long. Research shows that kids are more prone to gain weight and fall behind academically during the summer months if they are not engaged in activities that stimulate the mind and body.

The event will take place from 1-3 p.m. and will include a host of activities from the  Y,  the Junior League, Bike Haven, Lowe’s and Hulafrog.  The Y will highlight activities from its Summer Arts Institutes, held at the Junior League location, including Hip Hop Dance and a fun cooking project. The Junior League will share “Kids in the Kitchen” activities where kids can make their own trail mix and have fun learning about nutrition. Families can learn about the importance of bike and helmet safety and have fun building with Lowe’s.
