The Community YMCA Family Health and Wellness Center in Red Bank has been selected as a candidate for the LIVESTRONG Foundation Community Impact Project, which offers $1.2 million in funding to bring proven cancer support programs to communities across the United States.
Finalists will be determined through an online voting campaign on the LIVESTRONG Web site that ends at 6 p.m. ET on Thurs., Mar. 28. The Community YMCA members, friends and general public are encouraged to vote by clicking here.
If selected, the grant would enable the Y to expand its current LIVESTRONG programming to include creative arts. The LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program for cancer survivors and their families was introduced at the Red Bank Health & Wellness Center in 2011 and is a free 12-week, small group exercise program designed for cancer survivors wanting to regain health as they have become de-conditioned and fatigued from treatment.

“The community would benefit with the addition of a creative arts program to help cancer survivors and their families reflect, share, create and inspire, while strengthening themselves mentally and physically,” said The Community YMCA President and CEO Rhonda Anderson.
