VIDEO: Everybody Samba! It's Carnival Time at Markham Place
The annual event, organized by Señorita Young and run by the whole 8th grade team, took place on Feb. 24.
Like Stokes, the Washington, D.C. trip and Teen Night, Carnival has become one of those highly-anticipated milestones for students on their journey through .
And while I've wormed my way into most of those experiences with my three kids who have gone through Markham, I had never taken part in Carnival. So when Señorita Kathy Young invited me to check out this year's festivites on Friday, I jumped at the chance.
It was a good reminder of how our kids are treated to some great traditions during their time at Markham -- and becoming out-of-the-box thinkers and global citizens. And it also illustrated how lucky they are to have the 8th grade team that is willing to clean up glitter off the floor from mask making, make 100 empanadas and of course, SAMBA!
