Gambling for A Cause: RBR's Source Hosts Casino Night

The Red Bank Regional educational foundation held a gaming fundraiser at McCloone's in Sea Bright.

On Saturday night, March 26, the SOURCE Foundation, a comprehensive School Based Youth Services Program for Red Bank Regional students and families, held a Casino Night at McCloone's Rum Runner in Sea Bright.  All proceeds benefited the organization.

The work of the SOURCE includes individual, group, family counseling, substance abuse counseling, conflict resolution, preventative and reproductive health care services, recreation events and job coaching and employment counseling.

The SOURCE is a non-profit, which makes fundraisers like Casino Night an absolute necessity for its sheer existence.

Tickets for the this worthy cause were $100 per person and included a dinner buffet, $50 in casino chips and entertainment.  An array of casino games, including blackjack, craps and poker tables, were crowded around by some of the 90 who paid to play.

Much of the chatter at the tables involved dealers discussions with players who were unaware of aspects and rules of the games being played.  While a game and a dealer may not be as informal and informative in a casino town like Atlantic City, players at the fundraiser felt comfortable enough to ask questions and to admit when they still were unsure about the rules of the game.

"I don't know what you just said, but I'm still having fun," one player said at the craps table, much to the laughing agreement of others around the dice game!
