Get Out: Talkin' Holly, Shootin' Hoops, and Mix, Mingle and Jinglin'

Why you should go: The Rumson Garden Club and the Rumson Shade Tree Commission are co-hosting a lecture on Native American and British species of hollies by Director Bruce Crawford. Mulled cider, hot chocolate and cookies will be served.

Why you should go: The Red Bank Elks present their annual free-throw shooting contest for children ages 8 through 13. The boy and girl with the best score from each age group will move on to the next round in a national competition.

When and where: Sunday, Dec. 4 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at in Eatontown

Why you should go: All-you-can-eat pancakes and sausage, raffles, and prizes. We hear Santa was drawn by the all-you-can-eat part. Diners can also bring their old eyeglasses for recycling.
