Kitten Deaths in Oceanport Ruled Accidental

Kittens dropped out of engine compartment on their own, surveillance video shows.

Four kittens found dead on Monmouth Boulevard and Myrtle Avenue on July 1 died accidentally, the chief law enforcement officer for the Monmouth County SPCA said.

SPCA investigators originally thought the kittens had been thrown from a moving vehicle. But a review of a sophisticated surveillance system in the neighborhood show on of the kittens dropping onto the roadway on its own from the engine compartment of an SUV, according to app.com.

The kitten deaths were investigated by the SPCA, Oceanport police and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
