Little Silver Fireman of the Year: Shawn Mery

Little Silver resident Shawn Mery, a member of the Little Silver Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, has been awarded Fireman of the Year for outstanding service.

In addition, Mery was awarded a Unit Citation for his efforts at the Carriage House Lane fire on Dec. 10, 2011, ensuring that all the occupants were safely out of the structure prior to fire department arrival, according to a release.

"I serve on the LSFD, with a group of brave and outstanding firefighters, and I am proud and honored to be a part of the Little Silver Fire Department," said Mery.
