Little Silver To Get Its Own Day
Little Silver residents are invited to celebrate their home town on Saturday, June 25th, 2016
Little Silver residents are invited to celebrate their home town on Saturday, June 25th, 2016 (Rain Date June 26) from 3pm-9pm when the inaugural ‘Little Silver Day’ kicks off with an afternoon of live music, children’s events, food, adult beverages and a spectacular ending that will light up the night sky.
The event, which will be held at the borough’s fields between the library and the Markham Place School behind Borough Hall, will be free to Little Silver residents with nominal fees charged for food and beverages to help support the staging of the event.
Volunteer committees have been formed and plans are well underway for this community event. Little Silver hopes it can become an annual event that will take on added significance years from now when the borough celebrates its centennial in 2023.

While Little Silver - a town of approximately 6,000 residents, ideally located minutes form the Jersey Shore beaches and a commuter train to New York City - can trace its history back to 1667 when brothers Joseph and Peter Parker first settled the area. Little Silver was actually incorporated as a borough from portions of Shrewsbury Township by an act of New Jersey Legislation in the spring of 1923.
Many communities around the area have a day for their residents and this will be Little Silver’s Day. This event will highlight all of the amazing people, businesses and organizations in Little Silver.

Event sponsors are being pursued. The event’s website is currently being constructed and should be ready in the coming weeks. Additionally, an application for a 501 c 3 not-for-profit foundation Will be filed. The not-for-profit status will allow fundraising to be carried out to help fund the event and support Education, Recreation and other good causes directly related to Little Silver. The Borough is expecting 1,000+ attendees from town and looking to incorporate all of the Little Silver businesses.
