Little Silver Police to Drivers: Slow Down
Patrol cars will monitor various locations throughout the borough

I tend to be a speeder. I don't mean to, I like to follow the rules, but I turn onto Branch Avenue in , which is a 35-mile-per-hour road, and in no time I'm doing about 45.
Until I got pulled over recently doing just about that. Now, every time I drive down that road and start to creep over the speed limit, I quickly remember the threat of the speeding ticket and slow down.
And that's just what officers are hoping.

According to Chief Dan Shaffery, patrol cars will monitor roads where speeding has been reported, like Hance Avenue and Vista Drive and Harding Road by the high school. The little strip of Prospect Avenue that veers off towards Point Road is another speedy spot, according to Shaffery.
Patrol cars will move randomly throughout the borough and concentrate on before and after school traffic, Shaffery told Patch last month.

The chief said that drivers talking on cell phones and texting will also be targeted.
He said that the department's enforcement of traffic safety has increased over the last year while the number of motor vehicle accidents in the borough have gone down but he couldn't say whether it was "an anomaly or a trend."
I try to remember that not only don't I want a traffic ticket, I also don't want drivers speeding through my neighborhood, especially as the weather begins to warm.
