Little Silver/Oceanport Prep For Major Winter Storm: What To Know

Residents are not allowed to park on the street during a snowstorm. All cars must be parked in driveways.

LITTLE SILVER, NJ — Little Silver is preparing as the biggest winter storm of the season barrels towards New Jersey.

The town reminds residents they are not allowed to park on the street during a snowstorm. All cars must be parked in driveways.

"Plowing around vehicles parked on the roadway is time consuming and difficult for our DPW," said the borough.

The snow is expected to start at 1 a.m. Sunday and end early Monday morning. The heaviest snowfall will take place Sunday morning into Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. There will also be ice, freezing rain and sleet, which will make driving dangerous. Ice accumulations will be around one tenth of an inch.

In Oceanport, Suburban Disposal will be closed on Monday, January 26. If you are scheduled for Monday your pick up will be on Thursday 1/29/26.

In Little Silver, there will be NO garbage pick-up for Zone 1 on Monday, January 26. All garbage for Zone 1 will be collected on Thursday, January 29.

There will be no changes for Zone 2 garbage and recycling pick up this week.

Clear sidewalks if possible. Do not push snow from sidewalks or driveways into the street, as Public Works will be clearing roads.

Help the all-volunteer Fire Department by clearing snow from fire hydrants in your neighborhood. Clear snow from outside dryer vents and gas meters to prevent carbon monoxide infiltration.
