Young Artists Awarded by The ART Room's High School Contest

Kelly McAdam and Arthur Futernik given top honors by Little Silver studio.

Two young artists and their creations have been cast into the spotlight as in Little Silver awarded Kelly McAdam and Arthur Futernik as the winners of their High School Art Contest/Juried Show on Nov. 1.

McAdam, a senior at , won first prize in the "Drawing and Painting" category and took home $100 for her pencil self-portrait, which The ART Room's co-owner Maureen Hourigan described as "amazing."

Futernik, a senior at Colts Neck High School, won first place in the "Three Dimensional" category for his paper mache sculpture dubbed "Winged Beauty," and was awarded $100 as well.

Hourigan said the pieces were not created in the The ART Room's studio, but by the students elsewhere, and that called for entries from the 10 closest high schools. The contest was judged by Hourigan and Witter.
