Man Killed By NJ Transit Train Identified
The man was struck by a train Monday evening in Asbury Park, officials said.

A Monmouth County man has been identified and the person struck and killed by an NJ Transit train on Monday night, according to reports.
Marcelo Garcia-Roque, 20, of Asbury Park was hit by the train shortly before 9 p.m., according to the reports.
NJ.com reported that NJ Transit spokeswoman Nancy Snyder said Garcia-Roque was hit by the North Jersey Coast line 4379 train at the Monroe Avenue grade crossing in Asbury Park, just east of the Asbury Park train station.

The Asbury Park Press said Snyder described him as a trespasser who was on the tracks when the train passed through.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital, she said.

The train had 58 passengers and crew aboard, Snyder said, and urged the public to cross only at designated areas and never against the signal.
“Expect a train at any time at any track,” Snyder said.
