RESULTS: Mr. Santos Remains Reigning Champion of Mustache Madness

Eight male Administrators and Staff at MPS volunteered their scruff to raise money for charity!

This week, March 14  through March 18, the male teachers and administrators at Markham Place School in Little Silver started sporting facial hair.  On Monday, the voting began on who should keep their mustache and who should shave. Students were encouraged to bring a canned good into school to vote, and each canned good costs a point.

The student places the can in the box outside the office to vote for their favorite mustache, and points are accumulated.

Canned goods will be donated to a local food bank.  Fleece blankets are also being accepted as donations--but these will subtract ten points from the men's individual score if placed in their box. The blankets  will be donated to Holiday Express.

On Tuesday, the first elimination took place…Mr. Nolan, the physical education teacher and basketball coach, was disqualified for his fake mustache and Mr. Maschi, the Supervisor of Special Services was also taken out of the running.

Wednesday, the next round eliminated Mr. Olsen, who teaches Social Studies and Mr. McGrade a Math teacher at MPS.

Still standing on Wednesday were:  Mr. Pina, a teacher and coach with a score of 34, Mr. Santos, a teacher with a score of 19, Principal Morolda  following with 14, and lastly Officer Marty, the DARE Officer at MPS, with 8 points.

Fifth grade teacher Mr. Ken Santos is the reigning champion from 2010, and he has re-earned his title for 2011--winning by a whopping 70 point margin!

Officer Marty came in second place.

Total point scores have not been fully calculated yet, as hundreds of canned goods were donated for charity. However, the teacher with the least amount of points is Mr. Pina who had 20 fleece blankets in his box, subtracting his total points by 200!

Rumors are circulating that Mr. Pina may have put these blankets in himself in order to guarantee a clean shave for the weekend...
