Newsweek Ranks Red Bank Regional and Shore in top 1,000 Schools

Newsweek magazine announced the top 1,000 schools in the United States and Red Bank Regional and Shore Regional made the list.

According to the magazine, “This year, our ranking highlights the best 1,000 public high schools in the nation—the ones that have proven to be the most effective in turning out college-ready grads."

Red Bank Regional was ranked number 756, down from 408 in 2011, and Shore Regional came in slightly higher at number 714. Shore Regional was not ranked on the list last year.

Biotechnology High School in Freehold, which is attended by Oceanport and Little Silver students, made the top 20 list.

The list is based on six components provided by school administrators: graduation rate (25 percent), college matriculation rate (25 percent), AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student (25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent), average AP/IB/AICE scores (10 percent), and AP courses offered per student (5 percent).

The following are stats on the local high schools:

• ranks #20 on the list. The school has a 100 percent graduations rate and have 100 percent of students who are college-bound. The average SAT score is a 2001 and the average ACT score is a 28.1.

• ranked #714 on the list. They have a 99 percent graduation rate and 99 percent of students are college-bound. The average SAT score is 1562 and the average ACT score is 21.9.

• ranked #756 in the nation. They have a 99 percent graduation rate  and 92 percent of students are college-bound. The average SAT score is 1580 and the average ACT score is 22.
