Oceanport's Cat Cosentino to Release Debut EP Thursday

Singer-songwriter will perform songs from "Box of Chocolates" at a free show at Tim McLoone's Supper Club.

Cat Cosentino has come a long way from singing Madonna and Cyndi Lauper songs in front of a mirror as a child.

The singer-songwriter and longtime Oceanport resident will release her first EP "Box of Chocolates" on Thursday, Jan. 5, with a release party to be held at Tim McLoone's Supper Club in Asbury Park.

Admission is free and doors open at 6:30 p.m. Openers Gerald Edward and Jerzy Jung kick things off at 8 p.m. and Cosentino takes the stage around 9:45 p.m. She will play an approximately hour-long set.

Cosentino recorded the EP in Woodstock, NY with sound engineer Robert Frazza.

“Traveling to Woodstock these past years made music very tangible for me," said Cosentino, who opened for Jeffrey Gaines and The Head and the Heart at Woodstock's Bearsville Theatre in 2011.

"This having been my first time in a recording studio, I was learning a lot about myself as an artist. Every day spent in the studio was a learning experience and it made me realize quickly that… I never want this to stop.”
