Pet's General Store Coming to Little Silver

Local pet owners won't have to travel far soon to shop for their furry friends.

Pet's General Store, which will carry food and supplies for small pets, will open at 32 Prospect Plaza in , the site of the long-gone Peppermint Tree, according to Ben Lucarelli, principal for JPL Realty Management in Red Bank, which owns the property.

"I think they should do well," said Lucarelli, adding that the small pet food business is "rapidly expanding."

He said he hoped the store would open within the next 30 days, and was waiting for utilities to be connected so that renovations could be completed.

One of the store's owners, Kathleen Smith of Little Silver, was at the borough's planning board meeting on Tuesday and received approval for a sign application for the business.
