We here at patch have been to a lot of Field Days at . Friday made 15, by our count but we have to say, they just keep getting better.

First of all, the weather was magnificent, with clear blue skies and temperatures staying in the low 70s.

Secondly, we like how the day is now broken up into two sessions, unlike years ago when lunches were done early and then the events of the day stretched through the afternoon. I seem to remember a lot of blazing hot May afternoons moving around the fields and always pushing a stroller with a toddler in tow.

Wasn't yesterday perfect then with my baby now the Point Roader and being free to move anywhere I liked without coaxing a little one to keep up?

Some of the highlights of the annual event included Mr. Mancheno's vevuzela horn blowing to egg on his third grade red team; watching all those little feet try to squeeze marbles between their toes and pull them out of the kiddie pool; and the seriousness with which students approached the mighty tug-of-war.
