On Friday, May 12, at 7 pm, The Red Bank Regional (RBR) Visual & Performing Arts Academy (VPA) dance majors present their “Spring Dance Extravaganza” at the RBR theatre. RBR is located at 101 Ridge Road in Little Silver, NJ. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for senior citizens and children. All RBR students are free with student ID. Tickets can be purchased at the door. For more information, contact the RBR dance teacher Cara Scacco at Cscacco@rbrhs.org, 732 842 8000, ext. 1477.
The show will feature 24 pieces with an intermission. According to RBR dance teacher Cara Scacco, “there are a lot of yearning, emotional lyrical pieces in addition to contemporary, hip hop, ballet, jazz, pointe and tap.”
Choreographers include the students as well as their teacher and two special guest artists. MaryAlice Crelin, a teaching artist with a Dance Bachelor in Fine Arts from Mason Gross at Rutgers University, choreographed a fun sassy commercial jazz piece for the juniors and seniors that will open the show. Garamh Kim is teaching the underclassmen a traditional Korean piece, which has proved to be a new and exciting experience for the dancers. Ms. Kim is a graduate student from Rutgers.

The fun finale performance and send off for the seniors will be performed to music from “High School Musical.”
Several of the seniors hope to continue dance when they leave the RBR Visual & Performing Arts Academy. One example, Debra Tuberion, will be attending the University of Tampa next year and hopes to join their dance team.
