Rumson Home Heavily Damaged By Fire

No one injured in four-alarm blaze on Monday.

Monmouth County authorities are still investigating the cause of a fire that ripped through a historic Rumson home on Monday and heavily damaged the second and third floors, a spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said.

The four-alarm fire broke out at 76 Buena Vista Avenue at roughly 12:54 pm. It took firefighters from multiple Monmouth County fire companies to extinguish the blaze at 6:30 p.m., Charles Webster, a spokesperson for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

No firefighters or civilians were injured, he said.

The home has extensive damage to the second and third floors and water damage throughout the house, Webster said.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Fire Marshal, and the Rumson Police Department are still investigating the cause, he said.

The Rumson Police Department, Rumson Fire Department, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office, the Sea Bright, Little Silver, Asbury Park, Middletown , Red Bank, Highlands, Atlantic Highlands, Tinton Falls and Shrewsbury fire departments responded.
