Tinton Falls Woman Charged With Attempted Murder Of Houseguest

Natacha Perez stabbed man she had ordered to leave her home, authorities said.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office has charged a Tinton Falls woman is charged with stabbing a township man outside her Howard Avenue home on Monday.

Natacha Perez, 35, is charged with one count each of first degree attempted murder, third degree endangering the welfare of a child, third degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth degree unlawful possession of a weapon, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said.

Monmouth County Superior Court Judge John R. Tassini set her bail at $300,000 cash. Perez is currently being held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold Township.

Tinton Falls Police Department responded to a report around 5 p.m. on July 6, of a stabbing at 20 Howard Avenue, where it was discovered the victim, a 29-year-old man, had been transported to a local hospital prior to their arrival. The victim remains hospitalized in stable condition.

A joint investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Tinton Falls Police Department revealed Perez had allowed the victim to spend the weekend at her home with his girlfriend and his two children. But at some point during the day on Monday, she became angry with the victim and demanded he leave her residence, Gramiccioni said.

The victim gathered his things and left the residence, but while he and his two children waited outside for a ride, Perez left her house armed with two large knives and approached the victim. She ultimately threw one of the knives at the victim, puncturing his chest, before lunging at him with the second knife, Gramiccioni said.

Perez was subdued and disarmed by people at the scene. Perez was arrested and transported to the Tinton Falls Police Department.

She faces a maximum custodial sentence of up to 20 years in a New Jersey state prison, subject to the provisions of the “No Early Release Act” requiring her to serve 85 percent of the sentence before becoming eligible for release on parole in convicted of the first-degree crime of attempted murder. She would also be under parole supervision for five years following his release from state prison, Gramiccioni said.

If convicted of the third degree charges of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and endangering the welfare of a child, she faces a maximum sentence of 5 years on each count. She faces up to 18 months in state prison for the unlawful possession of a weapon charge.
