What's Going On In The Shrewsbury River?
Oceanport residents have complained about the color and smell of the river.

By Christopher Sheldon
We've read multiple reports from Oceanport residents that there is a bad smell coming from the Shrewsbury River and that it is darker than usual.
Opinions on the Oceanport Residents Facebook page have ranged from sewerage runoff to algal blooms.
Diane Paradis from Clean Ocean Action even addressed the residents in the comment stream
"I don't know what is causing this, but anytime you have a concern please visit our Eco-emergency Contact page," Pardis said. "We list the phone numbers of the appropriate agencies to contact and step-by-step instructions on how to report these issues. Also, our staff scientist, who works with the DEP on some other water quality issues, has been notified of the problem and will monitor the situation."
We want to know if any Oceanport residents have noticed the smell or discoloration of the Shrewsbury River. If so, tell us about in the comments.
We hope to have an update to this story later today with some official comment from Clean Ocean Action or the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
