Weather forecast:
1. More than 1,500 stores to shutter in 2026 as retail apocalypse looms (themirror.com) — Livingston shoppers will lose their Macy’s at 112 Eisenhower Parkway as part of a nationwide wave of more than 1,500 store closures in 2026. Major chains including Macy’s, Pizza Hut, Wendy’s, and others are shutting underperforming locations, reflecting mounting pressure on traditional retail and restaurant brands.
2. These NJ Parents Saved Their Kids' Lives With Kidney Donations (patch.com) — Lifesaving kidney transplants at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston are giving local patients decades of healthier life, celebrated at a recent 25-year “kidneyversary” reunion. Families, donors, and longtime transplant recipients returned to thank the medical team and highlight how organ donation enabled them to build careers, raise children, and enjoy everyday moments that once seemed impossible.
3. No. 3 Mount St. Dominic keeps it rolling with win over Livingston (nj.com subscription) — Livingston High School’s softball team fell 13-0 to powerhouse Mount St. Dominic in a five-inning game played in Caldwell, with Livingston limited to just one hit. Despite the loss, pitcher Brielle Nankivell delivered 1⅔ scoreless innings in relief. Mount St. Dominic’s explosive first and third innings ultimately put the game out of reach.
4. Mejia scored an NJ-11 landslide (newjerseyglobe.com) — Livingston voters backed Democrat Analilia Mejia by only two points, a sharp 17‑point drop from Kamala Harris’s 2024 margin and a clear sign of local unease with her progressive stance. While Mejia cruised to a landslide win districtwide, Millburn and Livingston—both wealthy suburbs with large Jewish populations—bucked the trend and registered what one analyst called “protest votes.”
5. Chatham is one of 14 New Jersey Communities Unite to Launch 'Paint the Town Green' Mental Health Awareness Campaign (tapinto.net) — Livingston is joining 13 other New Jersey towns in the second annual “Paint the Town Green” mental health awareness campaign starting May 1. Residents can expect green ribbons, student art, wellness events, and opportunities to display yard signs or green light bulbs. A regional kickoff will be held in Summit, but Livingston neighbors can participate locally throughout May.
