Livingston Voters Should Keep This Key Deadline In Mind For 2026 Primary Election

The Livingston Township Clerk’s Office recently shared an important election reminder for local voters.

The Livingston Township Clerk’s Office reminds residents that Tuesday, May 12 is the last day to register to vote in the 2026 primary election, which will take place on Tuesday, June 2.

You may register online at voter.svrs.nj.gov/register with a:

Current and valid Driver’s License or a non-driver Identification Card (ID card) issued by the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC). Your information will be provided to the MVC to validate identification and to retrieve a copy of your digitized signature.

Social Security number – To use your Social Security number, you must have the ability to sign on-screen or upload your signature to complete the registration process. If you are unable to provide a digital signature, you cannot register online.

Alternately, registration application forms are available online at nj.gov/state/elections/voter-registration or at the Livingston Township Clerk’s Office located on the first floor of Livingston Town Hall at 357 South Livingston Avenue during regular business hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday).

To register in New Jersey, you must be:

A United States citizen
At least 17 years old, although you may not vote until you have reached the age of 18
A resident of the county for 30 days before the election
A person not serving a sentence of incarceration as the result of a conviction of any indictable offense under the laws of this or another state or of the United States.

To be eligible to vote in the June 2 primary election, Essex County residents who have not previously declared their political party can do so on Election Day.
