Livingston Council Candidate Forum Set For 2026 Primary Election

Three seats on the Livingston Town Council are up for election. Six Democrats and one Republican have thrown their hats into the ring.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — A forum for Livingston Town Council candidates will take place on Tuesday, May 12.

The League of Women Voters of Livingston will host a candidate forum from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Livingston Community Center, 204 Hillside Avenue. The forum will also be recorded by LTV. Learn more or RSVP here.

Here’s what to expect at the May 12 forum, organizers said:

“Join the League of Women Voters of Livingston for Livingston Town Council Candidate Night, an informative and engaging evening dedicated to local democracy in action. This is your opportunity to meet the candidates running for Livingston Town Council, hear their perspectives on key issues, and better understand their vision for the community’s future. Whether you're a longtime resident or a first-time voter, this forum offers a valuable chance to become a more informed and empowered participant in the upcoming election. Attendees will have the opportunity to listen to candidate remarks, gain insight into their priorities, and engage with the democratic process in a meaningful way. Don’t miss this chance to connect with the voices shaping Livingston and ensure your vote reflects your values.”

Three seats on the Livingston Township Council are up for election in 2026. Terms last for four years.

Democratic and Republican candidates will compete for their party’s nomination in a primary election on Tuesday, June 2. The winners will match up against any independent or third-party candidates for all the marbles in a general election on Nov. 3.

Here’s who filed to run for Livingston Town Council in the primary

In addition to the Livingston town council race, local voters will get to cast ballots for several county and federal seats. Primary races are taking place for U.S. senator, a U.S. House of Representatives seat in the 11th district, Essex County executive and the Essex County Board of Commissioners.

VOTER INFORMATION

Election Day for the 2026 primary takes place on June 2. Early in-person voting will take place from May 26 to May 31.
