3-Alarm Fire Rips Through West Long Branch House

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ — A three-alarm fire ripped through a West Long Branch house early Tuesday morning, according to officials. The Norwood Avenue home was abandoned at least 20 years ago and last belonged to a former West Long Branch mayor, NJ News 12 reports.

Firefighters arrived to heavy flames in "a large Queen Anne structure," according to the Long Branch firefighters' union.

"This morning as you’re waking up just take a moment to think about and says thanks to all our volunteer Firefighters and First Aid along with the several other agencies that assisted with last nights structure fire ( Old Shaheen property) on Norwood Avenue," West Long Branch Emergency Management posted on Facebook. "An awesome job by all and a very long night for them."

The three-story home dates back to the 1800s, according to NJ News 12.
