1. Info. On Long Branch's 9/11 Service (patch.com) — Long Branch residents are invited to a Sept. 11 memorial vigil at the municipal building on Broadway, running from 9 to 10 a.m. The city-hosted service is open to all community members who wish to attend and pay their respects locally.
   

2. Millions to be spent to help replenish three Monmouth beaches (app.com) — Sections of Long Branch's beachfront, from north of Pier Village to Seven Presidents Park, will receive part of a $38.3 million sand replenishment project this fall. Funded mostly by federal dollars with state and local matches, the work aims to strengthen dunes and beaches in Long Branch, Sea Bright, and Monmouth Beach against future storms and erosion.
   

3. Ocean and Monmouth Counties: NJNG Energy Assistance Days are Coming to a Neighborhood Near You (tapinto.net) — New Jersey Natural Gas is bringing its Energy Assistance Days to the Long Branch Library on Broadway this fall, offering one-on-one help with grants, payment plans, and applications. Residents struggling with gas bills can meet bilingual reps, check eligibility for multiple aid programs, and learn ways to cut energy costs before winter. Additional sessions are scheduled at other Monmouth and Ocean County sites.
   

4. Routes 18 and 36 closed in Monmouth County due to storm damage: NJ weather (app.com) — Drivers near Long Branch should be aware that Route 36 is closed in both directions just north of town due to flooding from a severe thunderstorm. A downed tree has also shut all northbound lanes of Route 18 in Marlboro, as 60 mph winds and hail threaten vehicles, power lines, and structures across parts of Monmouth and Ocean counties.
   

5. MTV saved 'Sun City,' Little Steven Van Zandt tells Springsteen Center (dailyrecord.com) — Long Branch played host as Steven Van Zandt visited Monmouth University's Springsteen Center to discuss how MTV helped his anti-apartheid anthem "Sun City" reach a national audience. He reflected on bringing hip-hop into the project, his TeachRock education work in New Jersey schools, and his hopes to return to TV. The piece also previews several upcoming public programs at the Center's Powell Soundstage.
