The Long Branch Concordance Family Success Center, in
partnership with the Monmouth Family Health Clinic, announces its Back
to School Health Fair to be held on August 13th,
2014. This event will offer free health
screenings for families, school supply distribution, and feature service
providers from Monmouth County. The fair will be held at the Monmouth Family
Health Clinic from 1—4 pm and is part of National Primary Care Provider’s Week.
“Every year we collaborate and organize a health fair to celebrate
this event” stated Mart Silverberg, Health Center Executive Director. “We
provide health screenings such as blood pressure, HIV testing,
and body mass index measurements as well as health education and free
advice. There is also entertainment for the children including face painting,
clowns and plenty of snacks and cold beverages.” In the past, the fair has been
attended by more than 300
people residing mostly in Long Branch. The Health Center is proud to
provide all these services free to the community to ensure that the
residents maintain healthy habits and get information on how to address their
health issues. Follow-up care is also provided for those individuals with
health issues found through the screenings.
“Parents
need a variety of support and resources as their children head back to school ranging
from health information and free screenings to pencils, notebooks and
backpacks. By partnering with the
Monmouth Family Health Clinic, we are able to offer them one-stop resources to
help the transition to school go a little more smoothly, “stated Lisa Wilson,
Executive Director of the Long Branch Concordance.
The
Long Branch Concordance is accepting donations of new school supplies for
distribution to families in the greater Long Branch area. Individuals, civic
groups and local organizations are asked to donate new school supplies for all
grades. The Agency is also collecting cases of bottled water and packaged
