“Our board of directors created the Healthcare Hero award so we could recognize partnerships with healthcare providers that allow children and adults living with type 1 diabetes to receive the best care possible,” said Jessica Backofen, executive director for the JDRF Central Jersey Chapter. “We are thrilled to present the inaugural award to the pediatric endocrinology team at Monmouth Medical Center as they do an incredible job of navigating families through the many challenges they face upon being diagnosed with this lifelong illness.”
