Berkeley: Walk For Turtles Benefits Popcorn Park Zoo, Terrapins
The Walk for Turtles takes place May 11 at John C. Bartlett Jr. Park.
BERKELEY, N.J. — The local diamondback terrapin population needs your help. Project Terrapin's second annual Walk for Turtles takes place at 10 a.m. May 11 at John C. Bartlett Jr. Park.
The walk benefits Lacey's Popcorn Park Zoo and Project Terrapin, an organization that supports habitat projects throughout the Barnegat Bay watershed.
Project Terrapin supports diamondback terrapin research, conservation and education throughout Barnegat Bay and New Jersey. Students from the Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science (MATES) volunteer over 1,000 hours annually to these initiatives, according to Project Terrapin.
