Blood Drive Planned In Memory Of Beloved School Nurse Peggy Whiteside.
A May 3 drive will honor Whiteside, a registered nurse with a strong interest in community health. She passed away from COVID-19 in 2021.

New Jersey Blood Services is hosting a blood drive in loving memory of Peggy Whiteside on Tuesday, May 3rd from 12:30pm to 6:30pm at the Church of St. Anselm in Tinton Falls.

Peggy, who was formerly the chairperson for the church’s blood drives, passed away from COVID-19 in 2021. As a registered nurse, she had a strong interest in community health, as she was known for bringing her blood pressure monitor to church and was often seen taking people’s blood pressure in the social time after church services.
Peggy was a beloved school nurse at Middletown High School South, where her family has now set up a scholarship in her memory for a graduating student pursuing a nursing career. This drive dedicated to Peggy’s memory, will be the first blood drive at the Church of St. Anselm since the start of the pandemic.

We are taking extra precautions to help prevent the person-to-person spread of COVID-19. As always, people are not eligible to donate if they’re experiencing a cold, sore throat, respiratory infection or flu-like symptoms. WHO: Blood Donors, Volunteers, and New Jersey Blood Services representatives
WHY: It only takes one hour to donate, and a single donation can save multiple lives. Roughly one in seven hospital admissions require a blood transfusion. Those in need include: cancer patients, accident, burn, or trauma victims, newborn babies and their mothers, transplant recipients, surgery patients, chronically transfused patients suffering from sickle cell disease or thalassemia, and many more.
