Brian “Fish” Simmons left us on Monday, May 11, 2015.

He grew up in West Long Branch, NJ and moved to Florida in 2001. While in NJ, he was an executive chef at the Ocean Place Resort in Long Branch. In Florida, he and his wife, Tara, opened and operated House of Floors in Sarasota with satellite office in Fort Meyers.

Cherishing their precious memories of an amazing life together are his loving and adored wife of 17 years, Tara, and his children, Dillon and Chloe, who he loved beyond any limit. Also, his parents, Heidi and Frank Simmons, his siblings, Cathy, Colleen (Frank) and Kevin (Heather) and his beloved nephew and niece, Noah and Lila. He was recently predeceased by his brother, Marty. Each with their own equally special and unique memories of Brian are all the members of the Maciewicz and DeMaio families. His friends were as precious as gold to him and he leaves them countless incredible memories of a boundless spirit who shared with them larger- than- life adventures.

Brian’s loves were fishing, cooking, his family and his friends. He had a heart that simply exploded with giving and love. He turned every room he entered into his captive audience and captured every moment of every day of life with never-ceasing energy and drive.

During a nearly three-year trying battle with challenging health issues his amazing quality of putting others first never wavered. Those of us who were privileged and so, so fortunate to share space and time with him (and that list is all-encompassing and very, very long) will forever be blessed with our precious memories of the unique ways in which he touched and transformed our lives.

Honor Brian with us from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 15 at Toale Brothers, Colonial Chapel. Donations may be made in Brian’s memory to Mote Marine Aquarium, Sarasota.
