Car Hits Front of Vacant Los Papagallos Restaurant

Driver not injured in accident

LONG BRANCH — A motorist accidentally drove her car into the front of the vacant Los Papagallos Mexican restaurant on Liberty Street on Saturday morning.

The female driver was not hurt according to Mario Sciacca, manager of neighboring Bella's Pizza and was only "shaken up."

Sciacca said around 11:30 a.m., the employees of his restaurant heard a large bang, looked outside, and saw that a woman had accidentally driven her Ford Focus into the front of the building.

The woman's car was not badly damaged, but the impact cracked the brick area underneath the restaurant's front window.

"The restaurant is empty now, thank god nobody was there," Sciacca said.

Sciacca said he quickly called the police, and the Long Branch Fire Department was dispatched to the scene. By noon, the fire department had already left the scene.

The woman's car was also still in front of the restaurant as of noon on Saturday morning.
