Daniel F. Kelly III Of West Long Branch Dies At 66

Former caterer, restaurant manager, carpenter often cooked for the whole neighborhood, especially on St. Patrick's Day.

Daniel Francis Kelly III, 66, West Long Branch, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 20. Dan was born May 1, 1949, at Fitkin Memorial Hospital, Neptune, and grew up in Long Branch and Oceanport.

He graduated from CBA and the University of Bridgeport.

Dan worked many years as general manager for Harry M. Stevens Catering, Monmouth Park, and then was the manager at Riverhouse on the Quay, Sea Bright, before discovering his true passion as a carpenter. Using his talent and attention to detail, he crafted many beautiful creations and renovations.

Dan’s greatest joy in life was being a father to his son, Kevin, cheering him on for his accomplishments and supporting his many activities and adventures. He also loved spending time with his family and friends, reminiscing about his years of international skiing and traveling with his wife K.C. He was a passionate Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching Jeopardy. Dan was a great chef and known for cooking many fabulous dishes, especially on St. Patrick’s Day when he cooked for the entire neighborhood.

He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel Francis II and Isabel, and his sister, Elaine.

Dan is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kathryn (K.C.), and son, Kevin, both of West Long Branch, and his sister, Marie, Tinton Falls.
