Deal Police Captain Killed In Crash Drove Drunk, Took Myriad Of Drugs

A Deal police captain who died on Jan. 2 when his car struck two utility poles had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system along with a mix of illegal narcotics and prescription drugs, according to app.com.

The Asbury Park Press filed an open records request with the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s office to obtain the toxicological results performed by a Pennsylvania laboratory on Earl B. Alexander IV..

Test results showed that Alexander had a blood alcohol of 0.19, more than twice the legal limit in New Jersey.

The toxicology screen of Alexander’s blood also found the illegal stimulant drugs ethylone, butylone, methylone, dibutylone, dimethylone and fluoroamphetamine, according to the Feb. 18 report complied by NMS Labs in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania on Feb. 18.

“They’re designer drugs, club drugs, bath-salt-type drugs,” said Dr. Lawrence J. Guzzardi, a Delaware physician who specializes in toxicology. “These are very unusual drugs. I mean, I don’t know how this guy gets these.”

Alexander was second in command Deal Police Department. He was pronounced dead at the scene on Norwood Avenue in Ocean Township.
