Eatontown Affected By Massive Power Outage Thursday Morning

More than 600 homes were without electricity Thursday morning, and the major intersection of Rts. 35/36 was shut down:

EATONTOWN, NJ — The Eatontown area was affected by a massive power outage Thursday morning, with at one point more than 600 customers without electricity.

In total, 660 Eatontown homes lost power Thursday morning, said a spokesman for this area's electric provider, Jersey Central Power & Light.

However, as of 12:30 p.m. most power to the area has been restored, according to JCP&L.

It is not immediately clear what caused the power outage, said JCP&L spokesman Chris Hoenig.

The major intersection of Rts. 35 and 36 was also closed, as there was no power to the traffic lights.
