Eatontown Chick-Fil-A Proposed; New Owners For Sitting Duck
A lot of new stores are coming to the Eatontown Rt. 35/36 intersection: A Sleep Number, Total Wine and Party City will open there in 2021.
EATONTOWN, NJ — A Chick-Fil-A is proposed to be built at the intersection of Rts. 35 and 36 in Eatontown and several other new stores will be coming to that shopping complex.
This is the TJ Maxx/Best Buy shopping complex across from Monmouth Mall. According to this site plan published by commercial property brokerage CBRE, a Sleep Number store will open in that complex later this year, as will a Total Wine & More liquor store and a Party City.
All three of those new stores are scheduled to open sometime in 2021. The site plan only lists Chick-Fil-A as "proposed" for that site, but the Asbury Park Press reported that the Eatontown Zoning Board actually did approve the Chick-Fil-A at their meeting Monday night.

The Sleep Number store will be built on what is currently parking lot.
Other storefronts are empty there and CBRE is actively looking for retail tenants to fill them.
Big changes are also proposed for the Monmouth Mall: Patch already reported that RWJBarnabas is opening a massive, four-story Family Care & Wellness complex at the mall, next to the Boscov's. Construction already started and it is slated for completion in October 2021.
And now, 700 apartments are proposed to be built at the mall too, according to CBRE.
The existing AMC 15 movie theater is also proposing to add a second IMAX screen, according to the broker.
Also, a restaurant that was in operation in Long Branch for 25 years will be taken over by new owners: Sitting Duck announced on their Facebook page Tuesday they are "handing the keys to a restaurant group that will take the Sitting Duck to the next level."
Sitting Duck is an American fine dining restaurant located on Myrtle Avenue in Long Branch. It is family owned and the business did not immediately reply to questions from Patch asking why they are closing, or if the restaurant shutdowns, limits on indoor dining and pandemic is to blame.
"After 30 + years the Sitting Duck has come a long way," read their Facebook post. "It didn’t happen without the continued support of our community. We’ve experienced good times & bad together. We got to know you like family, best friends & loyal customers. The time has come to hand the keys to a restaurant group that will take the Sitting Duck to the next level. We hope you will show them the same love And support you showed us for the last 30 years. It’s been our absolute pleasure to serve you! Thanks for everything- Gary & Michael."
