A Toms River man and a man from Eatontown have been charged with attempted robbery after they tried to rob the TD Bank on Hooper Avenue in Brick on Tuesday evening, Brick Township police said Wednesday.

Michael Gibson, 22, of Belmont Drive, Toms River, approached the bank, at 2292 Hooper Ave., at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday and displayed a gun, police said. The doors to the bank were locked so Michael Gibson was unable to get in, but employees inside the bank, who were locking up for the night, called police.

Michael Gibson ran off toward Hooper Avenue and got into a dark-colored sedan that was seen headed westbound on Beaverson Boulevard toward Lakewood, police said.
