Edgar J. Astwood Sr. Of West Long Branch Dies At 86

Edgar J. Astwood Sr. 86, of West Long Branch passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Jersey Shore Center, Eatontown.

He was born in Cape Hatian, Haiti, but lived most of his life in the Jersey Shore area.

He represented himself proudly in the United States Marines. He was a Flotilla Commander of Flotilla 27 with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, a member of the West Long Branch Leisure Club, and a retired engineer from Precision Circuits. He also worked for EAI and on Telstar for Erco Corporation. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Brenda Kemp Astwood, daughter; Susan M. Astwood, son; Ed Astwood Jr.

Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 23 at the Hoffman Funeral Home, 415 Broadway, Long Branch. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 24 at the Hoffman Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, West Long Branch.
