Former Immaculate Conception, St. John Pastor On Sex Abuse List

A former pastor for churches in Long Branch and Eatontown was on the Diocese of Trenton's list of clergymen "credibly accused" of child sex abuse Wednesday. Manuel R. M. Fernandez served as pastor for the Immaculate Conception Church in Eatontown and St. John the Baptist Church in Long Branch, according to the Asbury Park Press.

Fernandez was accused of engaging in inappropriate conduct with an adolescent female, according to The Trentonian. He was removed from ministry in 2002 and moved back to his native Spain, where he died in 2006, The Trentonian reported. Fernandez was ordained in 1959.
