A former Monmouth College chaplain was named on the Diocese of Trenton's list of clergymen credibly accused of child sex abuse Wednesday. Richard C. Brietske served as chaplain at the school in West Long Branch that's now called Monmouth University, according to the Trenton Monitor, a diocese-run newspaper.

Brietzke was ordained in 1962. He later served as pastor for two parishes from 1982-95: the Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven and St. Gregory the Great in Hamilton Square, the Monitor said. He coordinated the diocese celebration of the new millennium in 2000 and was chairman of the diocese building commission, the Monitor reported.

Brietske served as a weekend assistant at the Church of St. Catherine in Holmdel until 2007, according to the Monitor. The Monitor article about his 2012 retirement called his career "exciting and fulfilling. Brietske, 82, was removed from the ministry, according to the Trenton Diocese.
