Four-Story Apartment Building Coming To Center Of Long Branch

This apartment building, called The Elbie, is coming to the long-empty lot at 305 Broadway:

LONG BRANCH, NJ — A four-story, 79-unit apartment building is coming to the heart of downtown Long Branch, right across from City Hall.

The apartment building will be built at 305 Broadway, a corner lot that has long stood vacant. Construction just started this week.

This will not be a soaring high-rise apartment building like those that have gone up in the past few years along Long Branch's oceanfront: It will be a four-story building that will be designed to fit in with the existing buildings around there.

The developer is Downeaster Development, which has renderings of how The Elbie will look here.

It will be called The Elbie, a nod to the Elberon section of Long Branch, where U.S. presidents and the wealthy vacationed at the turn of the 19th century, or possibly to the initials of Long Branch (L.B.).

This is a choice piece of property: 305 Broadway is not only across the street from Long Branch City Hall, but also across from the newly renovated and expanded Long Branch public library. It is also walking distance to the Long Branch train station and just a few blocks from the beach.

The Elbie will consist of 79 one- and two-bedroom apartment rentals, all described as luxury, and ground-floor space for restaurants and retail. The building will have an indoor fitness center and an outdoor amenity deck, with an outdoor fire pit and an outdoor grill area.

It will have on-site parking.

Construction just started this month and it is supposed to open in late spring 2027, reported Real Estate NJ. They had a groundbreaking Tuesday.
