Friends Of Jackson Woods Honored For Their Work Restoring The Park

Jackson Woods is a 13-acre natural green space in Long Branch that has been long neglected. But these volunteers brought it back:

LONG BRANCH, NJ — A Long Branch open-space advocacy group, Friends of Jackson Woods, were honored Dec. 19 by the Monmouth County Board of Commissioners for their efforts in maintaining open space in the Long Branch area.

Jackson Woods Park is a 13-acre natural green space in Long Branch that has been long neglected and was damaged by Superstorm Sandy.

But because of the efforts of these volunteers, it has been transformed into an area of passive recreation and environmental education.

Friends of Jackson Woods volunteers Nan Simon, Kathleen Buchan, Marcy McMullen plus many others have made the park a place to promote the arts, preserve Long Branch’s rich history and protect the unique ecosystem of the area and habitat it provides for local wildlife.

The Monmouth Conservation Foundation has also been involved.
