Gov. Murphy In Long Branch Thursday, Announces Library Funding

The Long Branch library will be renovated to have an open floor plan, a business/career center, a local history room and a teen center.

LONG BRANCH, NJ — Gov. Phil Murphy was in Long Branch Thursday to announce the second round of funding for the Long Branch public library.

Patch already reported in November that the Long Branch library is preparing to go under some big renovations: The library will be renovated to have an open floor plan, a business/career center, a local history room and a teen center.

Long Branch received the fourth largest grant amount in the state for the work, a $3.1 million dollar matching grant from the NJ Library Construction Bond Act.

“We thank Governor Murphy for making this announcement here in Long Branch and for supporting and investing in our library,” Mayor John Pallone stated. “This announcement today will transform libraries for generations to come.”

Improvements will also be made to fully reclaim the lower level of the Long Branch Libary, which suffered water damage during past catastrophic storms.
