Intergenerational "Senior Prom" held at Seabrook Retirement Community

More than 100 senior citizens from Seabrook Retirement Community and local high school students enjoyed an evening of fun and dancing

On June 5, more than 100 senior citizens from Seabrook Retirement Community and local high school students from Asbury Park, Neptune, Long Branch, and Ocean Township enjoyed an evening of fun and dancing at the “Senior Prom” held at Seabrook’s Princeton Dining Room.

The annual event brings together high school and college students employed by Seabrook’s Dining Services and residents at the active continuing care retirement community in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. Many of the student participants are recipients of the Seabrook Scholars Fund. The fund is a program where residents donate money to eligible students for their upcoming college or secondary school education.

At the end of the evening, Seabrook residents Kenneth Hor and Louella Bogaard were crowned king and queen.

“I was very surprised,” said Bogaard after winning the crown. This is the second time she wore the crown. During college in the late 1950s, she was named Prom Queen at St. John’s University.
