Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center Provides Free Breast Screening Programs

Local women recently took advantage of free breast education and screening programs offered at MMC and MMCSC.

More than 25 local women recently took advantage of free breast education and screening programs offered in conjunction with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month at the Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch and at Jacqueline M. Wilentz Breast Center at Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus in Lakewood.

The programs featured free clinical breast exams and screening mammograms, as well as opportunities to discuss breast reconstruction following breast cancer surgery with Gregory Greco, M.D., chief of plastic and reconstructive surgery at Monmouth Medical Center, and breast surgery with Manpreet Kohli, M.D., a breast surgeon who recently joined the Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center.

Additionally, Sherry Grumet, genetic counselor with the Leon Hess Cancer Center at Monmouth Medical Center, discussed Monmouth’s High Risk Cancer Program and Erin Dooley, breast patient navigator, spoke to patients about programs and services available at the Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center. Each event included an assessment for the High Risk Cancer Program, breast health education, refreshments and giveaways, as well as same-day mammogram reads

Screenings were open to insured and uninsured women, with screenings for uninsured women made possible by a grant from the Central and South Jersey Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.
